Politics, Murder & Mayhem

There's nights I lie awake thinking about the possibilities and the dreams of those around us. There's other nights I lie awake and simply think of some really stupid shit. Things that literally make you go "hmmm...!" My problem is simple...my brain really starts working when I'm trying to fall asleep and when my brain starts working, my mouth starts working. My lovely partner in crime really hates when this happens because I can talk for hours about absolutely nothing. While I see no problem with this, she feels that I shouldn't be keeping her awake all hours of the night when she has to be up before 5am for work. Just can't help it.

Just the other night we were discussing politics, murder and mayhem. I know what you're thinking "are those really different topics?" My Partner is very patriotic. she likes to follow the rules and obey the laws and will take any order our government (even dumbass Bush) gives. Me? Heh, well I'm quite the opposite. Rules bore me after awhile and when I get bored I need to stir up the pot a bit...but that's a different topic altogether. Like I was stating, we were discussing these topics when I realized how different our views are.

Let's start with politics, shall we? Just for the helluvit *grin*. I think all politicians should speak what's on their mind rather than hide behind speech-writers and such. I think if we had a presidential candidate stand up during a debate and state something like "Why the hell are we sticking our noses in another country's business when we can't even keep our own country clean" they would be elected on the spot and given a tidal wave of applause. All hail the honest politician. She felt, of course, that if we had a candidate who spoke off the cuff they would be politically incorrect and such. Yawn. Tell it like it is and then you have nobody who wants to shoot you in the ass the moment you pull your pants down to piss.

Now on to our topic of murder. Alright y'all, I'm not sadistic and in any way a promoter for criminal acts...especially not murder so don't go getting yourself all wadded up. This discussion came up because I was reading a book about a female hit man. The character had reached a crossroads in her career and was trying to analyze whether she was still looking at a mark as a job instead of a person. I, without thinking, said aloud..."If I was a hit-woman, I could totally keep my personal opinions and my job separate." Naturally, this made my partner look at me oddly so I felt I had to explain why i had stated as much. After my explanation, she said she agreed that i could totally pull it off and that she couldn't ever commit murder. I said "Babe, if the military called you tomorrow and told you to take someone out, you would not do it?" She said "of course I would, that's different. That's legal orders from our President." Ha Ha HA. Forgive me for laughing but HA! I believe murder is murder. If our military needs to do a job and take someone out than do it, but its' still murder. This does NOT give our troops permission to go in and take innocents out like they so often are given orders to do. ***Note: I am NOT against the military, I am simply against our government using them to do BS dirty work that doesn't need to be done. Endnote*** That's what started the 2-hour long debate that started well after midnight on a work night. My opinion is simple: no matter the method, no matter the reason, no matter where the orders come from, whether justified or not, taking a life is still murder. She chose to disagree, which is okay...it's not the first time nor will it be the last.

Naturally, this all lead to a discussion on mayhem...she swears I need to create drama in my mind, if not in life, in order to recover from boredom I get when I stay stagnate too long. I'll give her that...I do believe she's right. *grin*.

Until next time, Scribelets.
